ImageThe D-Link DWL-520 and pigtail that we ordered from austwireless.com arrived on Wednesday. The card has been put into its new home, and I configured it last night with the HostAP driver.

The HostAP machine specs (at the moment) are:
- Cyrix MII 300
- Unknown VX motherboard
- 128MB SD-RAM
- 2.11GB Seagate ST32122A (more space to be added at a later date)
- Debian 3.0_r1 (2.4.18) + HostAP driver

Here is a snapshot of the card running and configured:
  bxap1:/# iwconfig wlan0
  wlan0 IEEE 802.11-b ESSID:"bxwifiap1"
   Mode:Master Frequency:2.437GHz Access Point: 00:05:5D:5B:C5:9B
   Bit Rate:11Mb/s Tx-Power:1 dBm Sensitivity=1/3
   Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
   Encryption key:off
   Power Management:off
   Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
   Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

We will hopefully (fingers crossed!) have some WG (Wave Guide) testing done this afternoon, which should allow us to install the HostAP machine into its new location on the weekend sometime (probably Saturday). If all goes to plan we should have the AP installed and have some client testing finished by the end of the weekend. This should mean that people in the area who already have equipment can start connecting when they want to.

More news to come soon.

p.s. in unrelated news; it appears as though the current version of the site is very links compatible. Good to know!
