AP02b (the fun half of my setup)

The second half of my wireless setup here at AP02 has recently been changed a little :)

Gone is the good old "backplane" PC (it literally was the mobo on the backplane part of a case with the wifi cards pluged in, the PSU hanging on by the cords, and a BIG fan screwed into the mounting hole on the side of the harddrve to keep it all cool).

Now I have upgraded, become a little more modern :) AP02b is now a WRAP based machine mounted in an IP65 rated weatherproof box. It provides the backbone links to AP05 and AP08 - one in 802.11g mode and the other in 802.11a mode. The actual box is not the usual outdoor wrap that is available from yawarra.com.au - but is the board they use in them put into a case I got elsewhere. The mounts were made up for me by Flak (thanks mate - excellent job)

Some pics of the setup before it got installed. This is to show the inside of the box before it was sealed and put up the pole :)

Below is the final product up. You can see the 802.11a dish down the bottom, the 802.11b/g dish for the link to AP05 is the righthand side one, and the waveguide for the actual AP (currently a linksys WRT54G but will be changing it over to a cisco AP once I get it back from whom I have loaned it - the linksys is very noisy for my radio setup :( ). The other antenna is my trusty cheapie TV antenna. With LOS like I have TV is great even with a run of coax hehe.
