This "How To" is for setting up a router for use in the Bathurst Wireless Network utilising slackware.
this is a work in progress, and am slowly completing it to make installing an easy process.  This is a quick guide and knowledge of computers and some os use is required.

  • Anything that is bulleted like this is a command to run eg. to show the system processes
  • ps aux

Before we continue you will need slackware which can be obtained from here.  you will only need disk 1.  At the time of this article, 10.2.0 is the latest version.

Once you have downloaded and burnt the image to disk, you need to boot from the cd.
After booting from the slackware cdrom, it will load and after a few moments will stop at this screen: slackboot
Simply pressing enter will load the bare.i kernel.

We then need to choose our keyboard map:
keyboard-map
For our purposes you will simply need to once again, press enter for the standard keyboard map.

Now we need to log into our system:
loginroot
Guess what?  Simply by pressing enter again will log you into our installation environment!
How easy is that?

Now that we are in, the next step is to configure our hard disk.
