Configuring our Hard Disk
Configuring Setup
Choosing base packages
Packages in the "A" group
Packages in the "AP" group
Packages in the "D" group
Packages in the "K" group
Packages in the "L" group

Now to start configuring our hdd, run the following command

  • cfdisk /dev/hda

For the first partition create a new primary partition of 20MB at the beginning of the drive and make it bootable.
This is going to be our boot partition, which will show as hda1

For the next partition create a another primary partition utilising all space at the beginning of the drive except about 500MB which we will later use for swap.
This will be our data or root partition, which will show as hda2

For the third and final partition create a new primary partition with all remaining space.
This will become our swap partition, which will show as hda3

**important - Change the “Type” of hda3 (or the third partition to type 82 ‘Linux Swap’)

Finally choose “Write” and then type “yes” to save new table to disk

Then you should end up with something close to the following:
cfdiskcomplete

Now that we have prepared our drive, we can move on so select "Quit" and lets stat the installation of Slackware Linux.
