I still think if the PC or laptop driving the wireless connection is in the roof you might as well go for a good wifi card with external antenna connector. The loss of a short run of cable would be negated by the better performance of the card - plus with a goos PCI or PCMCIA card you won't get the Belkin "feature" as Bluedog pointed out seems to be a trait of their products.
