Bathurst Wireless Big Day(s) Out (in the sticks)
- 2005/09/14 21:27
#1
As you have noticed on the main page there is a Big Day Out happenning on October 15th/16th which is the weekend after the car races.
The venue is my place which is a comfortable drive out of town, email Bob or myself for details.
Its far enough out to give us some room to do wifi antenna tests, fly your model planes, play r/c cars, 4wheel drive etc, socialise and have a great bonfire on the saturday night.
There is plenty of space for tents/campers, and there are spare beds and a guest room to be allocated in the house for people who want to stay over but dont want to camp out.
Bring along barbeque food and drinks, and remember the chairs. There will be some beer tastings and spirits available for sampling.
Previous groups who have come out for the weekend often start arriving friday night and set-up by the fire with the main group arriving by saturday midday.
Weather permitting it will be a lot of fun for all. Hope you can come along even if its just for the saturday afternoon.
cheers

its a dogs life but someones got to do it

Sounds sweet bluedog...

If me n VK2TWU are back from camping in the simpson desert in time im up for another campout!!!

Behind every little problem there's a larger problem, waiting for the little problem to get out of the way. When I do figure out the problem, my mind is like lightning, one brilliant flash then it is gone!

well the big weekend out in the sticks has been held and while it was a low-key outing all those that attended had fun.
Bob and Ingrid, John, Sandra and Harrison, Zac and eleventy billion flies turned up over the three days friday to sunday to accompany Phillipa, Ali and myself.
With lots of barbecue food and large quantities of beer consumed we actually found time to do antenna sweeps from the mountain and check gps points and distances on long-haul link paths for the bathurst-orange region.
while only 6 full ute-loads of stumps and logs were burnt over the course of the weekend the fire was always raging hot! i am hoping to do better with more people helping to gather wood next time!.
sunday brought rain so other guests who had planned to attend were advised to give it a miss as the council had recently graded the track and it had become impassable for 2 wheel drives.
hopefully next time conditions will be more favourable.
Everyone got to see what its like to live in an autonomous house (without grid power, mains water and sewer) and how to go about solar power budgeting, battery storage etc.
thanks to all who did attend or were going to.
