Want to get back in and involved!

After a breif spurt of involvment when I arrived in Bathurst in January, I am now working in a software development role locally and looking to get into the bathurst wireless scene.

As some of you would know, I live in a big old house with great views across the city (from the corner of lambert and peel streets). I have two mesh dishes sourced from neighbours roofs, and about 8 meters of that thick 400 cable (from livewire).

I haven't modded the dishes as yet (altough they are both cracked open and ready and waiting), and I haven't installed any roof hardware (poles) for mounting the dishes from.

Is there a need for an access point from my roof on this side of the city? I am still extremely keen to install one, it's just that I would need an omni-directional antenna, and a power supply to replace the one I loaned Bob (so i can get my spare computer working and acting as a access point) .....

Finally, I would need i guess 3 wireless cards if the original plan still holds true to create links between my place and bobs, and my place and zacs.

BTW - any body know any firm information on when ADSL2+ will be gracing our town? You would have thought that with all the infrastructure involved with the uni, the Dpmnt of Lands and Housing, and dpmnt of Education, that we would already have providers selling ADSL2+ using the fibre links already coming into bathurst.

Matt

Mattyd,

Well I do know of 2 people that I expect would be able to get onto the network if you were able to put up an AP. They are both quite excited about the idea as am I about the thought of the network expanding even further.
I have dropped off that PSU to you (thanks for the loan hehe - damn PSUs dying and all - but I did find a spare hehe) plus I do have an AP we can use for now that is ready for POE and in a weatherproof box - all that is needed is a network to plug it into, and a pole to mount it on. We might even have a waveguide to use for the AP there so could quite quickly get you up and running.

Let me know what else you might need as you know I have a few spare parts hanging around here and would be happy to loan them short term.

Cheers
