On Friday we (BXSL, XtremeX and myself) put up the new 802.11a link from my place to ap08. This is another 802.11a link on our network and it does seem to ROCK!!! A little more fine tuning on the link should further increase the performance but first tests were showing a stable link in excess of 1.5Mb/s (that is megabytes not bits so 8 times faster than a good country adsl connection hehe)

The link at my end is provided via the WRAP box / CM9 combo that was installed a couple of weeks ago for the AP02 / AP05 backbone link, and into a commercial 802.11a dish. Photos will be going up shortly.

The other end is into a WAR box also using CM9 wifi cards, and also into a commercial 802.11a dish.

The use of 802.11a is hopefully to overcome some of the interference problems we have been facing with the very crowded 2.4GHz spectrum. I am hoping than when I have enough funds to do so that I can also change the current link from AP01 to AP02 over to 802.11a, which will be good at both ends
